Home Works is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that improves educational outcomes for students in communities experiencing systemic barriers by partnering with schools to more effectively engage parents, families, and caregivers in their children’s learning. Position OverviewThe Development Manager plays a critical role in sustaining and growing Home Works’ fundraising efforts. This position blends development coordination, grant tracking and writing, donor stewardship, and basic administrative support. This is an ideal role for someone who is proactive, organized, comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and enjoys a mix of relationship-building out in the community balanced with behind-the-scenes execution.
Reports toDirector of Development
Primary Responsibilities- Maintain and track the Home Works (HW) grants calendar with deadlines, reporting requirements, and deliverables
- Draft and submit simple grant proposals and letters of inquiry
- Compile reports for funders, including collecting program data/impact outcomes and aggregating into compelling narratives to share with stakeholders
- Maintain grant files and documentation
- Research prospective foundation and corporate funders
- Support donor communications and stewardship touchpoints through direct outreach
- Manage donor database (tracking gifts, pledges, contact information/records, and maintenance as appropriate to enter new funders while mitigating duplicates)
- Generate donor acknowledgments and thank-you letters
- Prepare materials for meetings with funders and individual donors
- Design and execute small fundraising campaigns and appeals
- Track progress toward fundraising goals and communicate progress internally with key stakeholders
- Thought partner alongside Director of Development on how to continue engaging our donors and stakeholders in meaningful ways (digitally and via personal outreach)
- Provide basic administrative support to development leadership
- Prepare board fundraising reports and dashboards
- Maintain organized digital filing systems
- Coordinate mailings and basic logistical support Qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, or related administrative work
- Experience writing or supporting grant proposals (even at a basic level) and compelling storytelling background preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to independently manage multiple deadlines
- Comfortable working in a small, collaborative team environment
- Proficiency in Google Workspace or other cloud-based work spaces required
- Experience with donor database systems (e.g., Bloomerang, Salesforce, Donor Perfect) preferred
- Self-starter who takes initiative
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable asking questions and proactively seeking clarity
- Values relationship-building and mission-driven work
- Believes in educational equity and meaningful family engagement
Home Works prides itself on cultivating a balanced, flexible, and rewarding work environment. Position responsibilities may take place in a combination of in-person office and remote work settings. Infrequent nights and weekends may be required.
Position Specifications- Full-time, exempt
- 50k annual compensation
