Overview

New Growth is a nonprofit community development corporation based in west central Missouri, fostering community health and economic growth through entrepreneurship, local food systems, and transportation initiatives. The organization connects both farm and non-farm entrepreneurs with resources such as grants, microloans, business planning, credit building, and networking opportunities, helping businesses succeed and strengthen communities. New Growth includes programs like the New Growth Women's Business Center, food systems initiatives, and New Growth Transit.

Affiliated with the West Central Missouri Community Action Agency, New Growth works to build jobs and economic opportunities for the next generation.

This is a full-time hybrid role located in west central Missouri, with flexibility for partial remote work meaning there will be times you will need to work at one or more of our west central Missouri located offices. The main responsibility of the Farm & Food Programs and Policy Director is to support the New Growth team to help implement the programs for the Missouri Farmers Union designing and coordinating a program to assist in advancing equitable local food systems.

Key responsibilities include overseeing food programs, engaging in policy advocacy, managing legislative relations, and facilitating collaboration with government officials and stakeholders. In addition, you will evaluate programs, analyze data, manage projects, and support the community through initiatives aligned with New Growth s mission. This is a full time position working 36 hours per week Monday thru Thursday, 9 hour days.

• Strong skills in Governmental Affairs, Legislation, and Legislative Relations, with the ability to navigate complex policy landscapes
• Excellent Analytical Skills, including data evaluation and the ability to derive meaningful insights
• Proficiency in Project Management, with demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities
• Experience in stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, and collaboration with government entities and community partners
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Experience of working with farmers/agriculture, rural communities, food systems development.
• Proficient at computer work (i.e., Microsoft suite, typing, etc.). Willing to travel throughout Missouri, excellent facilitation, communication, and building relationships.
• High School Diploma, Bachelor’s degree or 2 plus years’ experience in an equivalent field.
• Experience in rural development, food systems, or similar fields is a plus
• Be a positive team player with excellent people skills. Have the ability to communicate and work professionally with all farmers, clients and co-workers with a positive and caring attitude.
