Overview
Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Part-Time Bookkeeper for a mission-driven nonprofit organization supporting Indigenous cultural preservation and environmental stewardship. This is a hybrid-remote opportunity based in Portland, Oregon
, with approximately 90% remote work and occasional on-site needs in Northeast Portland.
- Maintain accurate financial records using Quick Books, including reconciliations and general ledger management
- Process payroll and support payroll-related reporting using Gusto or similar systems
- Track receipts, expenses, and cash flow to support budgeting and grant activity
- Prepare routine financial reports for leadership and board review
- Support compliance documentation related to audits, insurance, and state reporting
- Collaborate with leadership to improve financial organization and internal processes
- Proficiency using Quick Books for bookkeeping and reconciliations
- Payroll processing experience; familiarity with Gusto strongly preferred
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines
- Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential financial information
- $27 per hour (contract-to-hire)
- Up to 20 flexible hours per week
- Temporary role with strong potential to convert to permanent employment
- Hybrid-remote work structure based in Portland, Oregon
- Casual dress code for remote work; business casual for in-person meetings
