Pro Bono Programs Manager, NCBF Programs Department

POSITION SUMMARY
:
The NC Bar Foundation Pro Bono Programs Manager oversees and coordinates pro bono program clinics on behalf of the Bar Foundation ("Foundation"). The Pro Bono Programs Manager serves as point of contact for internal and external partners on pro bono clinic initiatives that engage North Carolina Bar Association members in service through the profession.

Qualifications

EDUCATION
: A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and N.C. law licensing is preferred.

EXPERIENCE
:
Requires a minimum of two years of program management experience, with exposure to legal services, pro bono programs, and access to justice initiatives.

ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
:
Excellent communication skills are required, including written, telephone and public speaking skills. Candidate must demonstrate a professional demeanor and be able to work well with others to achieve targets in a goal-oriented setting and possess a creative and entrepreneurial attitude regarding new program development and new approaches to familiar programs. Candidate must be comfortable with computer technology and have experience with the programs Google Forms, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint, and a willingness to train to proficiency on additional technologies and programs in use by the Foundation and Association.

Candidate must understand the dynamics of program-based fundraising in a non-profit setting and be able to competently collect and report on program-specific data for use in fundraising efforts.

  • Job Duties and Responsibilities

    A. Foundation Pro Bono Clinics Management

    Position has primary responsibility for operating and expanding Foundation pro bono clinics and cultivating new pro bono clinics to engage NC attorneys, paralegals and law students in pro bono service. This position requires some solo travel and weekend work throughout the state in order to host on-site pro bono legal clinics. Program operation may involve packing and unloading program materials, including signage, computer equipment, and refreshments.

    • Serve as program manager for the Foundation’s clinic-based pro bono programs, including NC Lawyers on Call, NC LEAP (entrepreneurs assistance), Wills for Heroes, NC Free Legal Answers, and others.
    • Support development of new pro bono programs, particularly pro bono project ideas coming from NCBA Sections, Divisions and Committees.
    • Manage all aspects of pro bono clinic event planning, including logistics, operation, and assessment.
    • Recruit pro bono attorney volunteers for Foundation pro bono clinics.
    • Conduct client outreach and marketing for Foundation pro bono clinics.
    • Review and respond to all requests for clinic-related information and assistance.
    • Manage all client/case assignment and tracking processes.
    • Coordinate training opportunities for pro bono program volunteers.
    • Coordinate retention and recognition events for pro bono program volunteers.
    • Resolve all volunteer and client concerns in a timely manner.
    • Track and report on program metrics on a quarterly basis and generate reports that are geared towards supporting fundraising goals.
    • Maintain relationships with community partners.
    • Maintain and develop new content for program-related brochures, fliers, and website.
    • Participate in regular staff meetings to review, plan and coordinate clinics, programs and events with Foundation staff team, including the Development and Endowment Departments.
    • Support staffing of the NCBA Pro Bono Committee.
    • Provide other program management duties as needed or assigned.
