Hours of Work: 37 hours per week, 9 am – 5 pm Monday to Friday.
Location:
Home based with travel around the Birmingham area.
(Applicants should live in the Birmingham area; have a full driver’s licence and access to their own transport.)
You will be expected to take a flexible approach and may need to commute outside your specified borough – mileage will be covered at the rate specified in our mileage policy.
Salary:
Starting salary £24,242.40 per annum.
Contract Type:
Permanent.
- Provide high‑quality instructed and non‑instructed advocacy according to the needs of the client and relevant to the service being provided.
- Act on behalf of clients at all times, including following their instructions, taking action as directed, or representing their wishes, feelings, beliefs and values in a way that is consistent with the law, guidance and best practice.
- Evidence effective, outcome‑focused case management, ensuring all casework demonstrates processes of planning, action and review with relevant recording.
- Provide high‑quality written reports as part of statutory advocacy roles.
- Escalate concerns or complaints professionally to relevant public bodies as instructed by clients or otherwise where appropriate.
- Strong communication and time‑management skills to successfully work remotely.
- Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and the ability to learn software packages such as client‑management databases.
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate recording of records and reporting to meet tight deadlines.
- Previous experience in advocacy, information and advice, or a similar role within health, social care, or the voluntary sector.
- Demonstrable experience working with vulnerable adults.
- Working knowledge of public and voluntary organisations.
- 25 days annual leave + bank holidays (rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service) with the option to buy or sell up to 5 days leave; plus your birthday off as an additional holiday day after 1 year’s service.
- Discretionary shutdown days at Christmas with up to 4 additional days leave.
- 1 community leave day per annum.
