The Opportunity

This newly‑created position plays a pivotal role in the TSO’s guest relations strategy, managing front‑of‑house operations at Linda Ronstadt Music Hall concerts and recruiting and training volunteers to serve as ushers and community engagement ambassadors. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional customer service and organizational skills, with the ability to manage dynamic situations gracefully. Volunteer management experience is preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities Front of House Operations
  • Manages ushers at all Classic series, Live @the Ronstadt, and other Linda Ronstadt Music Hall performances as needed, and all Masterworks performances at Catalina Foothills High School (approximately 45‑50 concerts in total between September and May).
  • Holds pre‑concert usher meetings, and liaises with venue & TSO staff for event flow.
  • Ensures venue readiness (e.g., cleanliness, programs, ticket scanners).
  • Coordinates with TSO Production Manager for concert starts, delays, late seating, emergencies, etc.
  • In conjunction with TSO staff, facilitates lobby activations including grassroots marketing efforts (e.g., tabling and community partner coordination).
  • Post‑concert, collects equipment (e.g., radios) and lost items, completes concert and any incident reports.
  • Leads annual pre‑season usher recruitment, training and preparation, in conjunction with Director of Ticketing Services and Marketing Assistant.
  • Undergoes venue safety training as needed and required by Tucson Convention Center.
Other Volunteer Management
  • Recruits and trains volunteers to assist at a variety of education and community engagement events.
  • Schedules volunteers as requested by TSO (e.g. marketing, education, development).

Required

Skills and Qualifications
  • Superlative level of customer service and responsiveness.
  • Exceptionally well‑organized, able to successfully multi‑task.
  • Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
  • People leadership skills, including motivation and management of volunteers.
  • Available to work nights and weekends for concerts and events.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. to move boxes of programs.
  • Available to travel to performances throughout Pima County as needed.
  • Maintain an active driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
Preferable

Skills and Qualifications
  • Passion for music.
  • Front of house and/or box office experience.
  • Spanish‑speaking.
