The Sexual Assault Response Center (SARC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive support services to survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones. Guided by empathy, respect, and sensitivity, SARC is committed to fostering healing and advocating for a society free from sexual violence. The organization ensures that survivors are believed, supported, and provided with the care they deserve, creating a safe and inclusive environment for everyone.

Through its mission, SARC plays a pivotal role in empowering survivors and promoting community awareness.

Role Description

This is a part-time hybrid role for a Sexual Assault Advocate located in Augusta, GA, with the opportunity for some remote work. The Sexual Assault Advocate will provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and advocacy for survivors of sexual violence. Responsibilities include conducting crisis response services (hotline and in-person), offering referrals to community resources, accompanying survivors to medical and legal appointments, and supporting educational outreach efforts.

The advocate will also maintain accurate documentation of services provided and collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure comprehensive survivor support.

Qualifications
  • Experience in crisis intervention, emotional support, and survivor advocacy
  • Ability to provide referrals, resources, and follow trauma-informed care principles
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and active listening skills
  • Proficiency in record-keeping, compliance with confidentiality standards, and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with legal, medical, or social service systems is highly advantageous
  • Ability to work independently, demonstrate cultural competence, and respect diverse experiences
  • A Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is preferred
  • On-call availability and flexibility to respond to after-hours crisis situations
