Position Summary

The Deputy Director IV works in collaboration with Tracking California’s Executive Director to provide leadership and management of the program, including development and implementation of program priorities and partnerships, while simultaneously serving as Principal Investigator (PI) of one or more significant Tracking California grant awards including CalWATCH, CHARM, and related projects. The position provides oversight or leads day-to-day functioning of the program, program strategic planning, grants management, and human resources.

The Deputy Director reports to the Executive Director.

This is a regular part-time 75% FTE position that is expected to have a work schedule of 30 hours per week.

This position works remotely, with regular travel for in-person meetings and other work activities across California and occasional travel outside California required. The incumbent is expected to work flexible hours to accommodate work and meeting schedules across time zones.

Full salary range for this position: $147,452 to $230,245 per year based on 100% FTE. The typical hiring range for this position is from $ (minimum) to $ (midpoint), based on 75% FTE. The starting salary is determined using a variety of factors, such as the candidate’s knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity consideration and budget availability.

Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 12 years of related experience, including at least 7 years of management level experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, or substitute with four additional years of relevant experience.
Other Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience in federal and other contracts and grant awards
  • Good personnel management skills.
  • Skills in strategic planning and meeting facilitation.
  • Experience in project management and prioritization.
  • Ability to interpret and connect programmatic and organizational needs to development and resource planning.
  • Ability to identify and analyze organizational needs to guide and direct staff to meet program and administrative requirements.
  • Risk assessment and management ability: determine, communicate and execute next steps to prevent / solve problems.
