The American Heart Association has a great opportunity for an Advisor, Charitable Estate Planning, based in the Southeast region, preferably FL, NC, or GA, and near a major airport

Responsibilities- Engage in key activities within a defined regional territory that includes FL, GA, NC, SC, AL, TN, LA, MS, PR in support of the national Charitable Estate Planning (CEP) program.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects and donors to designate charitable estate gifts.
- Partner with Mission Advancement and other staff to ensure full philanthropic opportunities are provided to every association supporter.
- Initiate communication to all leads received from individuals requesting CEP information in the assigned territory.
- Develop a dynamic cultivation plan for nurturing the most promising leads to optimize time and effort.
- Provide consultation and information regarding estate and tax planning, estate administration, and charitable giving. Stay up-to-date on tax law changes as they relate to charitable giving.
- Foster a culture of stewardship among Paul Dudley White Legacy Circle members, customizing communication and demonstrating the impact of charitable estate gifts on the Association’s mission.
- Create and maintain personalized, detailed prospect plans toward successful solicitation of the territory’s engaged prospects and donors. Maintain information in Salesforce for donors, prospects, volunteers, and estate planning professionals.
- Supply CEP illustrations using Crescendo Interactive software. Review estate plans with prospects to secure gifts and recommend specific estate planning actions; meet with donors’ professional advisory teams as appropriate.
- Make presentations on gift planning techniques at Association board meetings, staff meetings, and community events.
- Coordinate CEP activities with local Association staff and keep appropriate staff and volunteers updated on activities and progress.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
- At least five (5) years of proven experience
- Experience in planned giving (or individual fundraising), estate planning, understanding of intestacy laws, federal estate tax, federal income tax, state inheritance taxes, and estate planning strategies
- Proven track record of completing gift agreements (specifically, split-interest gifts) through personal interviews, public speaking, and strong communication skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of deferred gift and estate planning vehicles
- Strong donor relationship building and stewardship skills, with ability to conduct effective solicitation and closing
- Excellent public speaking and one-on-one communication skills
- Understanding of prospect identification, cultivation processes, and charitable gift commitment vehicles
- Proven ability to implement charitable estate planning strategies efficiently
- Ability to travel 50% of the time; willingness to work weekends and evenings as needed
- Preferred Experience: Certified Fundraising Executive, Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy or other fundraising designation
- Bi-lingual (Spanish)
