Rutherford County Area Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit, non-denominational Christian housing ministry, seeks to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

The Development Director leads all fundraising, donor relations, and community engagement efforts to advance Habitat for Humanity’s mission of providing safe, affordable housing. This role is responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive development strategies that secure financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and faith-based organizations. The Director oversees donor cultivation, stewardship, grant writing, events, and communications to ensure sustainable revenue growth.
Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and key volunteers, the Development Director builds strong partnerships and inspires philanthropic investment to expand Habitat’s impact in the community.
- Work with the CEO to develop and implement a comprehensive development plan to meet annual fundraising goals.
- Responsible for meeting annual fundraising goals and objectives.
- Organize events related to the development of relationships – from point-of-entry to major ask opportunities.
- Maintain donor interest in the affiliate's work and motivate donors to renew or increase their level of involvement.
- Ensure appropriate and timely acknowledgements (calls, recognition in newsletters, etc.), including proper house sponsor/donor recognition efforts.
- Create and make presentations to new and current sponsors.
- Proactively recruit new sponsors while maintaining current “house” sponsors and ensure that all Donors and volunteers have a positive experience.
- Send pledge reminders and follow-up materials to assist sponsors in making timely payments.
- Assist Board Members in prospecting their personal and business contacts. Engage Board members in the development process to increase funding.
- Create sponsorship materials, brochures, campaign pieces, videos, solicitation letters, and social media posts. Must receive approval from the CEO before publication.
- Oversee all marketing and social media staff and/or interns.
- Organize and execute donor recognition activities, including donor appreciation events.
- Plan and implement all fundraising events.
- Create appropriate appreciation and all fund-raising event materials.
- Serve as one of the administrators of Bloomerang database system and keep staff trained in proper use of the database.
- Represent RCHFH to interested parties and make presentations to various organizations to raise public awareness about this affiliate.
- Provide the CEO with fundraising information needed for annual planning and budget preparation as directed.
- Attend events and conferences as required and appropriate.
- Be involved in at least one outside community organization to be approved by the CEO.
- Perform various administrative functions as directed by the CEO.
- Other duties assigned by the CEO.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Non-Profit, Marketing, Public Relations, or another related field required.
- Minimum four (4) years’ fundraising, development, marketing, and/or public relations experience required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Windows, including EXCEL and PowerPoint.
- Experience and/or proficiency in a CRM platform such as Salesforce or Bloomerang.
- Ability to work independently within budget constraints.
- Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented.
- Ability to drive and have access to a personal vehicle, with proof of a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of the Rutherford County market and not-for-profit community preferred.
- Ability to read, write, hear, and communicate adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to see adequately to type, read, file, and use office equipment.
- Ability to drive a car.
- The work is moderately sedentary, with local travel within one hour of the office required. Extended sitting, standing, and intermittent lifting and walking.
$60,000
