Position Summary
The Philanthropy Associate strengthens donor engagement, retention, and investment at Navian Hawai’i. This position supports the organization’s fundraising efforts through coordination and execution of donor communications, stewardship activities, and annual giving strategies.
Responsibilities- Oversee the annual fund program, including planning, implementation, and performance tracking to achieve revenue goals
- Support annual giving and stewardship strategies that encourage donor loyalty and growth
- Assist with donor cultivation, solicitation, and recognition activities through coordinated outreach, follow-up, and stewardship execution
- Coordinate acknowledgements, impact reports, and donor recognition opportunities to ensure timely, accurate, and meaningful donor communication
- Help manage direct mail and digital campaigns, including drafting content and tracking results
- Provide oversight for all direct mail and digital solicitations including the annual report, e-newsletters and appeals
- Maintain accurate donor records and activity tracking with the CRM system and monitor stewardship activities to support data integrity and reporting needs
- Provide reports and analyze data for donor giving trends
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to renew, upgrade, and expand the donor base
- Attend Navian Hawai’i events to foster donor relationships and promote philanthropy
- Provide reporting and administrative support, including monthly updates to leadership
- Demonstrate clear understanding of Navian Hawai’i’s mission, vision, and values
- Practice effective communication and interpersonal skills to enhance teamwork and accomplish goals
- Promote excellence in donor relations in all interactions
- Assist in developing marketing and promotional plans
- Gather information for budget reports and annual impact reports
- Recommend and implement changes in procedures and practices to meet donor needs and organizational goals
- Maintain departmental reports and records and collect statistical data for administrative purposes
- Serve as a member of agency committees as needed
- Stay actively involved in industry and peer groups within the community
- Plan for and meet deadlines consistently
- Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet job demands, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Demonstrate initiative and work effectively as a team player
- Convey a professional and positive image of the organization and the nonprofit sector
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to influence, educate, and negotiate in a professional, results-driven manner
- Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information
- Strong skills in prioritization, research, problem solving, and independent decision making
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and donors
- Ability to multi-task with strong organizational, planning, and follow-through skills
- Well-developed presentation skills
- Passion for Navian Hawai’i’s mission and values
- 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, philanthropy, or a related field required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in fundraising or nonprofit management required
- Experience with Bloomberg or other donor databases/CRM systems strongly preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
- A legally compliant background check
- Drug screen
- Valid Driver’s License
- Reliable transportation with valid registration and insurance
- Indoors in an air-conditioned office or remote, as well as outdoors in varying weather conditions
This position is hybrid, requiring both remote work and regular on-site presence at our Honolulu office located at 680 Iwilei Rd., Honolulu, HI 96817
- Regular travel throughout Oahu for off-site events and meetings required
- Generally, Monday through Friday 8am-4:30pm
- Position may require weekend, night, or holiday availability
- Occasional climbing, kneeling, and reaching
- Requires long periods of sitting
- Must be able to lift and move up to 25lbs unassisted
- Requires visual abilities such as close vision, depth perception, and the capacity to adjust focus as needed
- Must be able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Requires learning many policies and procedures
- Must be able to speak, read, and write in English
- Demonstrates skill in written and oral communication, and team building
- Must be able to follow safety instructions and demonstrate critical thinking
$60,000-$80,000 Annually
