Part-Time Development Associate
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Development Associate is responsible for supporting fundraising efforts through assisting the Development Manager with managing fundraising campaigns and events, crafting donor communications and researching funding opportunities.
The Development Associate position is a primarily home-based, part-time opportunity that includes scheduled in-person meetings and fundraising events. Occasional evening/weekend availability for meetings and events required.
Responsibilities- Develop and expand relationships with community partners
- Coordinate event logistics, publicity and solicitations
- Solicit event silent auction, sponsorship and in-kind donations
- Recruit and coordinate volunteer activities pertinent to each fundraising event
- Coordinate logistics of event ticket sales
- Maintain and broaden social networking to benefit MEHS
- Identify new grant opportunities to support MEHS programs and services
- Actively participate and assist in management of the Development Committee
- Assist the Executive Director and Development Manager in other fundraising activities as necessary
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Google Drive and data base management
- Event planning experience and expertise
- Passionate about animal welfare
- Must be self-motivated, assertive and able to work independently
- Ability to organize, plan, prioritize and develop all opportunities in a timely manner
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, nonprofit management or other related field with 1-3 years of experience preferred
The Metro East Humane Society (MEHS) is a not-for-profit 501(c) 3 charitable organization dedicated to improving animal welfare in the St. Louis Metro East by providing quality animal services including adoption of animals, advocacy and preventative initiatives.
In support of this mission, the organization’s goals are to:
- Staff and support a “no-kill” animal shelter by providing a safe and healthy environment for cats and dogs;
- Provide humane medical treatment, vaccinations, and spay/neuter services to animals in our community;
- Promote the education of adults and youth on the humane treatment of animals, including responsible pet ownership and population control measures;
- Value and encourage partnerships with community-based organizations, schools, public institutions, private corporations, and elected officials; and
- Respect the public trust through the proper management of our resources
MEHS is financially supported solely through the generosity of the public. We receive no financial support from taxes or from the government. Our financial survival depends on generous donations from humane members of the public.
