Overview

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Development is responsible for leading and executing Adelante’s fundraising strategy to ensure annual revenue goals are met or exceeded. This role oversees individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsor ships, grants, events, campaigns, and fundraising systems, and works closely with the CEO, Board, and team to advance Adelante’s mission. The Director of Development is accountable for implementing the annual development plan and managing progress of KPIs.

This position reports directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the execution of Adelante’s annual development plan and diversified fundraising strategy, ensuring all revenue goals are met.
  • Oversee individual giving programs, including Semilla Club (monthly donors), donor cultivation, retention, and upgrades.
  • Own the grants calendar and lead the full lifecycle: prospecting, relationship-building, proposal writing, budgets (with Finance), reporting, renewals, and compliance.
  • Build and manage a major gifts pipeline (Apuesto Por Ti Circle – $5,000+), including donor research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Lead corporate engagement efforts, including sponsor ships, matching gifts, and workplace giving.
  • Oversee planning and execution of signature fundraising events, including the annual Gala, ensuring strong net revenue and donor movement.
  • Manage organization-wide fundraising campaigns, including Colorado Gives Day and year-end appeals.
  • Partner with the CEO and Board to identify, cultivate, and solicit donors and sponsors.
  • Lead donor community presentations and effectively communicate Adelante’s mission.
  • Track all fundraising activity, fundraising revenue, and expenses in collaboration with finance staff.
  • Maintain CRM integrity and oversee reporting through a dashboard on key metrics and KPIs.
  • Collaborate with marketing and program staff to align fundraising messaging and impact storytelling.
  • Mentor and support development staff, consultants, and volunteers.
  • Represent Adelante professionally at community events, meetings, and networking opportunities.
  • Report status of all relevant fundraising activities and KPI’s to CEO on regularly scheduled basis.
  • Other Duties Assigned:
    Adapt to evolving organizational needs, contributing to additional projects and initiatives as required.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Passion for Adelante’s mission and commitment to culturally responsive community development.
  • Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience, with demonstrated success meeting revenue goals.
  • Proven experience in individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsor ships, and events.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, including donor solicitation.
  • Experience working with CRM systems; data-driven and detail-oriented. (Airtable experience a plus).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Marketing, Business Administration or related field.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Work Environment

This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid role (Monday–Friday) with occasional evening and weekend work as needed for events and community meetings. Work is primarily in an indoor office setting, with local travel required for partner meetings, off-site events, and advocacy engagements.

Other Expectations

This role requires flexibility to work indoors and outdoors to support the organization's outreach and engagement efforts. Employees typically work in a hybrid environment, including working from home, the office, and other community-based locations, as well as some travel for meetings and events. This position includes extensive use of a computer, in-person conversations with organizational partners and community members, and spending time on the phone and/or video calls for internal and external communication.
