Job Description
The mission of the George Pocock Rowing Foundation (GPRF) is to help young people access and experience the life-changing sport of rowing.
This position will support and advance our mission by providing leadership and support for all volunteers, engaging our community through social media, and bringing on new corporate partners for our work. This position will work closely with programs, development, and communications staff.
This role is based in the foundation’s office in Seattle, WA. This is a full‑time, in‑person position with some flexibility to work from home.
Volunteer Coordinator Responsibilities- Working with the GPRF leadership team, assess current volunteer positions and determine new positions that benefit the organization and deepen relationships with supporters while enhancing impact. Develop a three‑year plan that leads to a 100% increase in the number of volunteers, from 100 to 200.
- Recruit, welcome, and lead new volunteers through a volunteer orientation. Send regular communication about volunteer opportunities to the current volunteer list, and highlight great volunteer work that has recently occurred. This includes managing a Mailchimp volunteer email list.
- Work with leads to coordinate volunteers for events and programs.
- Communicate with volunteers leading up to the event or program with “what to expect” and “what you need” emails.
- Manage changes in volunteer schedules.
- Communicate with program or event leads about any changes in volunteers.
- Follow up after the event or project to thank volunteers.
- Manage volunteer list in the Customer Relationship Management System, Little Green Light (LGL). Update LGL profiles with volunteer activity.
- Run reports on volunteer hours for quarterly and annual reports.
- Facilitate background checks for volunteers when appropriate.
- Develop a three‑year plan that leads to a 50% increase in social‑media followers and engagement.
- Create and distribute weekly social media content including CTAs and narratives that tell the story of who we are and what we do.
- Produce short videos (Instagram Live, FB Live, Reels, etc.) about our organization to share on social media platforms.
- Solicit stories and content from our community, including staff, board, supporters, and volunteers.
- Create and manage paid ads using data analytics for direction.
- Assist with developing and distributing social media content for event‑related communications.
- Attend all events hosted by the foundation. This includes fundraising events as well as outreach events where our programs or staff are present.
- Visit program sites to obtain content for all programs.
- Assist with distributing emails to our community through social media platforms.
- Develop a three‑year Corporate Learn to Row program plan that leads to a 50% increase in funds brought in by way of the Corporate Learn to Row program.
- Find companies to participate in Learn to Rows at the George Pocock Memorial Rowing Center.
- Lead all logistics for Corporate Learn to Row events, including volunteer management, purchasing lunch, and all event materials.
- Serve as point of contact for companies, providing communication before, during, and after the learn to row experience. Invite corporations to continue engagement with the Foundation through volunteer opportunities and event sponsor ships such as the Row to the Future Breakfast.
- 1+ years of social media marketing, marketing, office administration, or a relevant field combining organization details with customer service.
- 2+ years experience managing volunteers.
- Ability to work independently, without close supervision.
- Great interpersonal skills and a professional attitude.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong problem‑solving, organizational, and planning skills.
- Quick learner of new software programs.
- Possesses excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willingness to help others get things done.
- Driver’s license.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds if needed.
- Flexible work hours and the ability to work weekends on occasion.
Salary: $55,000
