Regional Engagement Coordinator:
Northern Canada

Part-time

Who We Are
Founded and chaired by Nobel Laureate and former US Vice President Al Gore, The Climate Reality Project is dedicated to catalyzing a global solution to the climate crisis by making urgent action a necessity across every level of society. The organization has branches in 11 countries, including Canada, and over 31,000 volunteer Climate Reality Leaders. Over 1,400 of those Climate Reality Leaders (CRLs) are located in Canada.

The Canadian organization was established in Montreal in 2007 as a charitable organization, and has its own initiatives tailored to the Canadian context. We believe education is the key to the success of the climate movement. By spreading knowledge pertaining to climate science and by teaching citizens how to be effective communicators on the topic, we are empowering people to become impactful catalysts for change in their communities.

One of our key programs is the Leadership Corps Program (https://(Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).), whereby selected advocates and influencers from all backgrounds in over 100 countries are trained by Vice President Gore himself to mobilize communities for climate action. These trainings feature a wide array of experts who inspire participants and teach them about: the science of climate change, the solutions available, powerful storytelling and public speaking techniques, media engagement strategies, best practices in grassroots organizing, networking approaches, and how activists can build momentum in their communities.

As a prerequisite to participation in a training, CRLs commit to performing at least 10 Acts of Leadership (AOLs): activities that educate, drive action, and support solutions to climate change, for example: meeting with an influencer, giving a presentation, organizing an event, mentoring a peer, publishing a blog post or news article, and appearing in the media. A cornerstone of these AOLs giving presentations on the climate and solutions to climate change: we see peer to peer education as a key tactic to fostering grassroots action.

Over 1400 trained Climate Reality Leaders are currently educating their communities, inspiring their fellow citizens for change, and pushing for greater climate justice and sounder policies across the country. Organized under 11 Lead Mentors who offer on-the-grounds support and regional networking opportunities, these climate advocates have access to a wide array of tools, projects and programs developed by CRP (headquarters, in the USA) and CRPC to foster impactful climate action and prolonged engagement.

Our second key program is the Community Climate Hub (CCH) initiative. Since 2017, Hubs promote sustainability at the municipal level by creating and networking existing citizen-led groups across the country and providing them with the tools and strategic support needed to influence climate policy and reduce GHG emissions. With this initiative, our collective goal is to get local and municipal government to commit to net‑zero emissions by mid‑century.

These commitments need to be rooted in justice and equity, and our organization will support their efforts to reach and exceed their objectives. The CCH are coordinated locally by 14 Regional Organizers.
