Arctic Slope Community Foundation Digital Literacy Manager Remote

The Digital Literacy Manager will play a critical role in leading ASCF’s technological initiatives, serving under the Executive Director. The Manager will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs designed to enhance digital literacy and technological proficiency among both ASCF staff and the community members we serve. These training programs will focus on building skills in digital literacy and the practical application of technology, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in community development.

This position will also oversee the creation of resources tailored to the unique challenges and opportunities of the Arctic Slope region.

About Arctic Slope Community Foundation

Arctic Slope Community Foundation is a geographically based entity, tied to the Arctic Slope region, its eight communities and the people within those communities. The efforts of Arctic Slope Community Foundation are first directed toward raising a permanent charitable endowment consisting of an aggregation of funds from many different sources, both large and small. Second, the community foundation serves as grantmaker, where thoughtful consideration by local leaders to meet challenges and opportunities within the region.

Third, Arctic Slope Community Foundation is a champion for charitable organizations on the North Slope and leads initiatives in the true spirit of collaboration.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive technology training programs for ASCF staff and community members, focusing on digital literacy and the application of technology in everyday tasks and community projects.
  • Design and facilitate workshops, seminars, and hands‑on training sessions that cover a range of topics, including the use of AI in community development, basic IT skills, and the use of digital tools for communication and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with the Community Programs Assistant and other ASCF staff to ensure that technology training is accessible to all community members, particularly those in remote or underserved areas.
  • Develop training materials, manuals, and resources that are culturally relevant and tailored to the unique needs of the Arctic Slope region.
  • Stay informed of the latest trends and developments in IT and AI, ensuring that training programs incorporate the most up‑to‑date information and tools.
  • Provide ongoing support to staff and community members, offering troubleshooting assistance and ensuring that all users are confident in their technological skills.
  • Partner with local schools, community centers, and other organizations to extend ASCF’s technological training reach.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs by gathering feedback and measuring outcomes, and adjust the training curriculum as needed.
  • Manage the IT training budget and ensure that resources are used effectively to support ASCF’s mission.
  • Advise ASCF leadership on technological opportunities and innovations that could further support the Foundation’s goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Education, or a related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 3‑5 years of experience in IT training, digital literacy programs, or technology education, preferably in a nonprofit or community‑based organization.
  • Strong understanding of AI applications and digital tools, with the ability to translate complex technological concepts into accessible, practical knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to teach and engage learners of all ages and skill levels.
  • Demonstrated experience developing training materials and leading workshops or training sessions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with the Arctic Slope region and its cultural, social, and technological landscape is highly preferred.
