Overview
Shelter Box is seeking a candidate with previous humanitarian experience to support our agile and effective International Programmes Department. The successful candidate will support responses to rapid‑onset disasters and protracted emergency programmes, ensuring we deliver high‑quality, impactful outcomes at speed and scale for the people we support. This role will support project delivery, including communicating with partners and reviewing funding and monitoring programmes.
The Programme Officer is a deployable role and may travel to crisis‑affected countries to support programme delivery and emergency responses.
Base pay range
Grade: 5
Salary: £35,404 per annum
Hours:
37.5 hours per week (occasional evening/weekend work; flexible hours considered outside deployments)

Responsible to:
Regional Director – Asia & MENA
Location:
Truro, Cornwall or UK remote working (with regular travel to Truro at least twice per year)
- Support programme delivery and deputise for Programme Managers under the supervision of the Regional Director and Programme Managers.
- Provide administrative support such as note‑taking, facilitation of workshops and travel arrangements.
- Support safety and security/travel planning.
- Report to internal and external audiences on programme delivery via briefings, presentations and written reports.
- Support best practice in project implementation, collate lessons‑learnt and support training delivery to partners.
- Monitor disasters and conflict and conduct relevant research.
- Track programme activities and financials, support compliance with donor conditions and requirements.
- Support emergency responses in Asia, MENA and Africa.
- Network and coordinate with NGOs, governments and other actors.
- Work collaboratively with partner organisations at all levels.
- Support emergency preparedness initiatives in the region.
- Ensure adherence to Shelter Box operational procedures and policies.
- Represent Shelter Box in any required capacity.
- Carry out any other duties appropriate to the level and grade of the post.
Shelter Box is looking for a delivery‑focused, pragmatic, and proactive individual with excellent attention to detail and awareness of international affairs. The ideal candidate will have experience working successfully in close‑knit multidisciplinary teams, project development and day‑to‑day programme management. This role requires a passion for building knowledge and skills around tools and processes that enable quality programme interventions in humanitarian contexts.
