Volunteer Online as a Conversation Partner

ENGin pairs English-fluent volunteers from around the world with Ukrainian learners for weekly online conversation practice. Participants are matched 1-on-1 based on preferences, interests, and availability to ensure an effective and mutually enjoyable communication experience. After a match is made, ENGin supports learners and volunteers throughout their participation with tips, resources, and problem resolution. We screen every learner and volunteer to ensure their fit for the program, and provide training and orientation.

Since launching in 2020, ENGin has connected over 26,000 Ukrainians with over 24,000 volunteers. 99% of our learners report breaking the language barrier after three months of participation. We’ll pair you up with a learner in Ukraine for a weekly one-hour video chat at times that are convenient for you. During your conversations, you’ll practice English with your partner, learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection. No prior tutoring experience or knowledge of Ukrainian is needed. We offer ample training resources, session materials, and total flexibility to customize your sessions to fit your/your partner’s goals and preferences.

• Strong internet connection
• Commit to one hour per week for a minimum of 10–12 weeks
