Volunteer Online as a Conversation Partner

We pair English‑fluent volunteers from around the world with Ukrainian learners for weekly online conversation practice. Participants are matched 1‑on‑1 based on preferences, interests, and availability to ensure an effective and mutually enjoyable communication experience. After a match is made, ENGin supports learners and volunteers throughout their participation in the program with tips, resources, and problem resolution. We screen every learner and volunteer to ensure their fit for the program, and provide training and orientation.

Since launching in 2020, ENGin has connected over 26,000 Ukrainians with more than 24,000 volunteers. 99% of our learners report breaking the language barrier after three months of participation.

• Participate in weekly one‑hour video chats with a Ukrainian learner at a time that is convenient for you.
• Practice English together, share cultural insights, and foster an empathetic, authentic space for connection.
• Use the training resources and session materials provided by ENGin to customize each session to your and your partner’s goals.
• Maintain regular communication with the ENGin support team throughout your volunteering experience.

• Fluency in English.
• A strong, reliable internet connection.
• Commitment to one hour a week for a minimum of 10–12 weeks.
• No prior tutoring experience or knowledge of the Ukrainian language is required.
