Senior Director Analyst, AI Marketing Strategy
About the role: Gartner Analysts are industry thought leaders who create must‑have research, market predictions and best practices for a broad range of world‑leading organizations. A Senior Director serves as a leader within Gartner’s Business and Technology Insights sector, establishing oneself as a credible voice within their designated market at local, regional, and global levels. Utilizing exceptional research and analytical skills, a Senior Director plays a significant role in producing pragmatic and provocative research which Gartner clients consume and apply to propel their business toward key objectives.
They are a trusted source of advice for clients, reinforcing Gartner’s value every day by engaging them via in‑person meetings, virtual meetings, sales support visits and Gartner conferences to discuss complex client challenges and offer appropriate recommendations.
This analyst sits within Gartner’s Marketing & Communications Tech Marketing practice and will guide CMOs and their teams in transforming their functions for business impact. As disruptive forces inside and outside the enterprise are resetting the expectations and objectives of B2B and B2C Marketing Leaders, this role will focus on AI leadership and strategy of marketing (including workflows, technology and readiness) and the AI / agentic AI transformation of marketing organizations
. In addition, this candidate will be expected to cover various aspects of marketing technology through evaluative research such as Magic Quadrants/Critical Capabilities as well as Market Guides and Hype Cycles. The technology coverage will include but is likely not limited to AI.
Successful candidates will leverage a deep understanding of CMO and marketing leaders (and their teams) to advise those roles in enterprise or upper midsize companies around:
AI Strategy- Help marketing leaders define a responsible, business‑aligned AI vision that clarifies how AI will enhance marketing outcomes, customer experience, and operational efficiency while ensuring governance, risk mitigation, and ethical use.
- Guide CMOs and their teams in prioritizing high‑value AI use cases across the marketing lifecycle—to deliver measurable business impact.
- Advise on organizational readiness for AI and Agentic AI and operating models by helping marketing leaders determine required talent, processes, data foundations, and cross‑functional collaboration to scale AI adoption.
- Provide deep understanding of buyer needs, market trends and vendor strengths in one or more technology areas.
- Understand the opportunities and risks associated with AI agents and agentic AI across a range of different workflows and use cases.
- Determine ideal build/buy/partner approaches related to AI agents and agentic AI.
- Deliver high‑quality actionable advice to an executive client audience through a variety of media.
- Write evidence‑based content that is clear and actionable.
- Create and deliver presentations for webinars and other client‑facing Gartner events.
- Deliver outstanding sales and service support to retain and grow the Gartner business.
- Build credibility as an industry expert to represent Gartner research, methodology and strategy.
- Actively participate in innovation, ideation, and research discussions and collaborate effectively with peers in our research community.
- Be a mentor and a coach by supporting more junior team members.
- Experience as a CMO/marketing leader for both B2B and B2C companies in the tech industry is required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience;
Graduate degree preferred. - 12+ years of relevant B2B and B2C marketing experience.
- Experience in AI marketing transformation is required.
- Experience in native and embedded AI technologies used across marketing activities.
- An informed understanding of the challenges facing Marketing Leaders within the enterprise and drivers of business impact.
- Extensive experience leading development and execution of marketing strategies, including go‑to‑market activities that drive enterprise growth.
