Job Summary

The Associate Director of Impact Communications seeks to advance Good Power’s work to accelerate a renewable energy economy by ensuring that we are effectively communicating our wins to our network, funders, partners and the media. The Associate Director translates our work into compelling stories, data and proof points that deepens funder trust, attracts new resources and projects, and amplifies Good Power’s influence in the field.

The Associate Director spearheads communications across various audiences including the Good Power Board, climate and political funders, renewable energy developers, and electeds as well as manages the CEO’s thought leadership to build a sphere of influence that continuously builds upon itself. This role tailors strategies and messages for each audience to advance Good Power’s mission and goals, across reports, newsletters, white papers and social media and digital advertising.

This role requires the ability to tailor impact narratives appropriately across organizational entities and audiences, translating complex, multi-cycle work into clear and credible communications.

This is a full time, remote position based anywhere in the United States. The Associate Director will work from home, meet regularly by video chat with Good Power team members and conduct activities both online and in-person. The Associate Director must be available for regular travel within the United States to participate in conferences, select actions, events, and to attend staff retreats.

This position reports to the Communications Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Executive Communications
    • Follow key industry news and work with staff to identify trends in the renewable energy space to craft Linked In posts and op-eds for the CEO.
    • Closely track internal impact updates across meetings, team Slack channels and weekly reports to identify key wins and develop a proactive plan for communicating our impact in advance.
    • Identify and pitch speaking opportunities for the CEO and other leaders in key renewable energy, political and funder spaces.
    • Prepare monthly impact updates for the Board of Directors to keep abreast of the programs and impact across the organization.
    • Develop creative, visual ways to demonstrate our impact that can be used across communication channels (Linked In, social media and blogs, email and SMS communications to our network, funder communications, media, and more).
  • Funder Communications
    • Manage, produce and implement development communications including creating and project managing a monthly newsletter, providing support for one-off impact updates for funders, and spearheading quarterly funder webinars.
    • Collaborate with the Research and Experimentation team to ensure that the public-facing and member-only research pages are up to date on the latest research and communicate out the findings of our research across key audiences.
    • Translate program data, experimentation results and non-linear impact into clear, compelling narratives that build funder confidence and support long-term investment.
