INDEX Corporation is seeking a detail‑oriented and technically proficient Applications Engineer to join our dynamic team. As an Applications Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the successful setup, programming, and operation of CNC machines for our customers. You’ll work closely with our engineering and technical teams to develop and implement solutions that ensure efficient machine operation, meeting customer specifications and requirements.
This is a full‑time hybrid role for an Application Engineer at INDEX Corporation. This position requires experience with working on multi‑channel CNC lathes, CNC mills, and G code programming. This role is located in Noblesville, IN, with the option for some remote work and does require 40% travel.
Requirements- CNC mill, Multi‑Channel CNC lathes machining experience
- CNC Machine set up experience
- G code programming
- Metal cutting experience
- Ability to travel
- Review and interpret customer part prints, time studies, and machine quotations to ensure accurate project execution.
- Assist in the development of tooling, work‑holding, and documentation for project purchases.
- Create and maintain technical documentation related to tooling and work‑holding for project purposes.
- Write and troubleshoot CNC programs, ensuring the proper installation and adaptation of all necessary components for successful machine setup.
- Debug and fine‑tune processes, addressing all aspects of machine functionality and project‑specific needs.
- Prepare machines for shipping by breaking down setups, inventorying parts, verifying all items, and creating packing lists and shipping details.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, managing coolant disposal, chip removal, and the return of unused materials to project shelves and bar stock areas.
- Coordinate the setup of sold machines at customer sites, ensuring smooth machine acceptance and providing operator training as needed.
- Provide technical support to other company departments, including processing, tooling, and work‑holding.
- Offer timely programming and technical assistance to customers and company employees through phone, email, or on‑site visits as necessary.
- Proven experience with CNC programming and machine setups.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, tooling, and work‑holding systems.
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical documents, including part prints and machine specifications.
- Effective communication skills for providing technical assistance to both internal teams and external customers.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites for machine setup, training, and support.
