Painter Brothers is looking for a proactive and detail‑driven Production Planner to join our Planning team and play a key role in delivering high‑quality steel fabrication projects on time and to programme.

As a Production Planner, you’ll sit at the heart of our operations—translating customer requirements into clear, logical, and achievable production plans. You’ll be the vital link between work winning, design, procurement, production, quality, and despatch, ensuring everyone has the information they need to deliver safely, efficiently, and with confidence.

Working within StruMIS and other planning tools, you’ll help shape daily and weekly priorities, monitor performance, and keep projects moving in the right direction. Your work will make a direct impact on factory efficiency, throughput, customer satisfaction, and on‑time delivery.

This is a hybrid role, combining home working with regular presence at our Hereford site to support factory coordination and stakeholder engagement.

What you'll be doing Production Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop and maintain detailed production plans within StruMIS.
  • Create efficient routing and workstation sequences.
  • Produce daily and weekly plans aligned to delivery requirements and production targets.
  • Identify constraints, risks, and sequencing challenges—and elevate where needed.
ERP & Data Control
  • Maintain accurate order and production data in StruMIS.
  • Issue and control work orders.
  • Monitor progress and ensure timely system updates.
  • Champion data quality and continuous improvement in planning discipline.
Performance & Reporting
  • Collate progress data from production, quality, and despatch.
  • Produce and distribute reports for Planning Leads, Project Managers, Finance, and clients.
  • Track KPIs such as plan adherence, throughput, slippage, and recovery actions.
Collaboration & Handover
  • Support the transition from work winning to operations.
  • Ensure scope and priorities are clearly communicated.
  • Maintain visibility of each order across its production lifecycle.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to resolve issues and support delivery.
  • Deputise for the Planning Lead at production, sales, and delivery meetings.
Who we're looking for Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Clear, confident communication
  • Strong data management capability
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel
  • ERP/MRP system experience (StruMIS desirable)

  • Experience monitoring production progress and managing plans
