Are you ready to lead and transform fleet operations in one of the UK’s largest local authorities? Birmingham City Council is seeking a strategic and dynamic Fleet Manager to oversee our fleet services within the Street Scene Division
. This is a pivotal role focused on compliance, operational excellence, and sustainability.
- Day to day management of the fleet department
- Lead and manage daily fleet scheduling and utilisation.
- Ensure legal compliance across all vehicles (tax, insurance, MOTs, licensing).
- Develop strategies to reduce downtime and improve productivity.
- Manage maintenance schedules and coordinate repairs.
- Lead and develop the fleet operations team.
- Oversee budgets and ensure cost-effective fleet management.
- Drive sustainability initiatives and fuel efficiency improvements.
- Support procurement and disposal of vehicles, ensuring environmental compliance.
What you’ll need...
- Degree or equivalent experience in Fleet/Business Management.
- CPC in Road Haulage or Passenger Transport Operations.
- Proven experience managing large vehicle fleets.
- Strong understanding of vehicle lifecycle costs and depreciation.
- Experience with fleet software, data analysis, and supplier management.
- Budget management and cost control expertise.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong leadership and communication abilities.
- Ability to interpret legislation and present data-driven insights.
- Commitment to sustainability and continuous professional development.
