Glasgow Science Centre – Permanent

Glasgow Science Centre (GSC) is dedicated to inspiring people of all ages to explore, understand and enjoy science. We are looking for a dynamic Head of Commercial to lead the development, planning and delivery of an ambitious programme of commercial activities, driving income growth while supporting our mission and delivering an exceptional visitor experience.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive and leading both the Events and Catering teams, you will shape and deliver a diverse portfolio of high‑quality commercial products and experiences. You’ll build on existing successes while creating innovative new opportunities to grow revenue, broaden audiences, and raise GSC’s profile locally and nationally. This role is central to achieving GSC’s financial and strategic goals, embedding our values, and ensuring our 5‑Star Customer Service promise is consistently delivered.

What

You’ll Do
  • Develop and deliver a year‑round programme of creative, high‑impact commercial activities.
  • Maximise financial return while expanding audience reach and strengthening GSC’s reputation.
  • Lead commercial marketing strategies in partnership with Communications.
  • Work closely with Operations to ensure effective staffing, delivery and customer experience.
  • Embed GSC’s science mission within commercial offerings wherever possible.
  • Lead the Events and Catering teams to attract and deliver outstanding third‑party and in‑house events.
  • Manage budgets, operational plans and performance targets.
About You You Will Bring:
  • Strong leadership, inspiration and commercial acumen.
  • Experience in project management, planning, budgeting, and developing revenue‑generating activities.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Creativity, ambition, energy, innovation and the ability to generate new ideas.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach, thriving in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences and aligning work with GSC’s mission and values.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and event‑based hours when required.
