The Job
We’re seeking a strategic, results-driven Senior Manager of Promotional Effectiveness & Execution to lead the design, execution, and performance management of promotional programs that drive profitable growth, improve customer value perception, and strengthen promotional ROI. This role blends financial rigor, analytical leadership, and operational execution, and is well-suited for leaders with backgrounds in FP&A or Merchandise Planning & Analysis (MP&A) who are eager to apply their skills in a pricing and promotions context.
This role is critical to connecting pricing and promotion analytics with enterprise financial and merchandise performance, helping the organization make more informed, financially grounded decisions.
What You’ll Do- Partner with Merchandising, Pricing Strategy, Marketing, MP&A, Finance, and Operations to align promotional strategies with financial targets and category strategies.
- Translate enterprise and category financial objectives into actionable promotional strategies and execution plans.
- Serve as a connective leader between Pricing analytics and MP&A perspectives to ensure alignment on performance measurement, forecasting, and business outcomes.
- Lead the evaluation of promotional performance through a financial lens, including incremental revenue, margin impact, ROI, and customer response.
- Develop frameworks that connect promo performance to broader business health (sales, margin, inventory productivity, customer engagement).
- Oversee end-to-end promotional execution across systems and channels, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and operational readiness.
- Identify execution gaps, root causes, and process improvements that impact financial and customer outcomes.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of promotional effectiveness managers and analysts.
- Establish consistent promo planning, performance management, and post-event review processes.
- Partner with Finance and MP&A to align definitions, KPIs, and reporting structures.
- Promotional decisions are clearly connected to financial outcomes and category strategies.
- Leadership has clear, consistent views of promo ROI and performance drivers.
- Improved alignment between Pricing, Merchandising, and MP&A in planning and forecasting.
- A deep team bench with growing financial and strategic capability.
- 7+ years of experience in retail pricing, promotions, FP&A, MP&A, or financial planning/analysis.
- 3+ years of people leadership or cross-functional program leadership experience.
- Proven financial and analytical acumen with ability to connect tactical decisions to enterprise performance.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional partners and senior stakeholders.
- Experience building performance frameworks, business cases, and executive-level insights.
- Background in Merchandise Planning & Analysis (MP&A) or enterprise FP&A within a retail or consumer business.
- Experience working closely with pricing, promotions, or commercial strategy teams.
- Familiarity with retail financial drivers: gross margin, markdowns, promo ROI, inventory productivity, and customer value metrics.
- Experience with analytics tools, BI platforms, and financial modeling.
