At Jumbo Group we want people to learn, have fun and be happy thanks to our amazing toys and games. We are currently seeking a high-performing and strategically minded Commercial Director who will play a key role in shaping long-term strategy while delivering strong financial performance.

Reporting to the Country General Manager, the Commercial Director will be responsible for developing and executing the Company’s commercial strategy to drive sustainable growth, profitability, and market share. This role will play a critical part in accelerating company growth through the ownership of local sales and marketing initiatives. The includes providing strategic leadership across sales and marketing as well as commercial partnerships and business development, ensuring alignment with the overall business objectives.

To achieve this goal, your functions will be the following:

Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and implement the Company’s commercial strategy in line with corporate objectives.
  • Close collaboration with the Group, especially the E-commerce team to ensure alignment across both channel and markets.
  • Identify new market opportunities, revenue streams, and strategic partnerships.
  • Lead market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and commercial risk assessment.
  • Contribute to overall business strategy as a member of the senior leadership team.
Revenue Growth & Profitability
  • Drive revenue growth through effective sales and business development strategies.
  • Establish pricing models and commercial terms that maximise profitability.
  • Oversee forecasting, budgeting, and revenue performance analysis.
  • Monitor KPIs and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Sales & Business Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the sales and marketing teams.
  • Set performance targets and ensure delivery against agreed objectives.
  • Negotiate high-value contracts and oversee key client relationships.
  • Strengthen customer retention and long-term account growth strategies.
Commercial Governance & Risk
  • Ensure robust contract management processes are in place.
  • Oversee commercial compliance, risk management, and financial controls.
  • Work closely with Finance and Legal teams on contractual and commercial matters.
Stakeholder Management
  • Build strong relationships with customers, partners, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
  • Represent the Company at industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Provide regular commercial performance updates to the Senior Management Team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Revenue growth and gross margin performance
  • New business acquisition and customer retention rates
  • Achievement of sales targets
  • Market share growth

The knowledge you should bring to Jumbo Group to take our services to the next level is:

  • Experience:

    Minimum 10 years in senior sales, marketing or business development roles.
  • Toys and games experience is preferable or an affiliated industry.
  • Proven Track Record:
    Demonstrated success in building and scaling businesses in the UK market.
  • Experience in managing licensing relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and drive cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic Vision:
    Expertise in developing and executing market entry and growth strategies.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of the UK retail landscape, including mass-market, specialty, and e-commerce channels.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for innovation and growth.
  • Familiarity with developing and managing brand marketing campaigns in collaboration with external agencies.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
