Position OverviewDATCP currently has an opening for a Weights & Measures Field Operations Manager position within the Division of Trade and Consumer Protection, Bureau of Weights and Measures.
Headquarters OptionsThe selected applicant can select a headquarters in one of the following cities:
Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Superior, or Wisconsin Rapids. Qualifying candidates are not required to live in a county headquarters location. However, reimbursement for commuting to or from the employee’s assigned headquarters is not provided (e.g., mileage, meals, parking, lodging, etc.). Routine travel within an assigned territory and throughout the state for assigned work and emergency response is required. When applying please select all cities in which you are willing to be headquartered.
Work Option
This position may have the ability to work remotely up to 6 days per 2‑week pay period! An approved remote work agreement is required before an employee may work remotely. Approval of the employee’s remote work agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who work remotely are required to live in Wisconsin.

As manager of the Weights and Measures Field Operations Section, this position is responsible for the administration of highly diverse and complex statewide inspection programs related to the regulation of weights and measures, petroleum/hazardous storage tanks, and fuel quality. The role participates in the Bureau of Weights and Measures’ management team, manages field supervisory staff, reviews applicable state/federal laws and Department policies, and provides input and recommendations to the weights and measures leadership team.
The position ensures field implementation of approved policies and procedures and provides consultation to governmental agencies, the regulated industries, and the general public. Significant statewide travel is expected to ensure administration of the weights and measures, petroleum/hazardous storage tanks, and fuel quality. The position operates under the general supervision of the Weights and Measures Bureau Director.
The classification of this position is Chief, Weights and Measures Field Operations
, which is in schedule‑range 81‑02 with starting pay between $45.00 to $53.41 per hour (salary between $93,600 to $ annually) based on qualifications. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. A 24‑month probationary period is required for this career executive position. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan at the time of hire.
