- Provide project management for Benefits and Retirement related projects.
- Act as project point of contact for work, such as the Retirement Deductions Project, the Washington Long-Term Cares Act, and Records Management.
- Manage, track, and control day-to-day project work, activities, and issues.
- Respond to inquiries about procedures, processes, or relevant regulations and laws associated with these projects.
- Maintain and communicate appropriate information to program participants and ensure the confidentiality of records is maintained according to established policies.
- Ensure documentation and data are entered and captured correctly in internal systems.
- Support other BPROS projects/activities as needed.
- Process incoming mail, sort incoming documents related to project, and prepare documents for scanning; manage receipt of received documents.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Working knowledge of human resource principles and practices, as well as employee benefit programs, practices, and laws.
- Demonstrated organizational skills, including effective time management and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve, analyze, assess, and identify options.
- Ability to research, interpret, and report program information.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate with diverse individuals within all functional disciplines and at all levels internally.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Experience remaining calm when dealing with customers.
- Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft 365 to include Outlook, Word, and Excel; and experience using internet-based software programs.
- Aptitude to quickly learn new systems and technology tools.
- Experience working in environments where confidentiality is a requirement.
- Operational experience with People Soft, Human Resources Management System, or other relational database system performing functional analyst duties, related to the benefits module.
The Central Employee Services Division (CESD) in the Department of Human Resources (DHR) seeks an experienced and customer service oriented professional to serve as a Benefits Project/Program Manager Iin the Benefits, Payroll and Retirement Operations Section (BPROS). The successful candidate will assist with projects related to Benefits and Retirement, provide customer service to employees about complex benefits issues by communicating accurate benefits information and responding to general benefits inquiries.
The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills and be able to manage multiple priorities to maintain a high level of service to employees. As the Benefits Project/Program Manager I, you will:
This non-represented position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40-hour workweek, normally 8 a.m.
-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117/Professional & Technical and is classified as a Project/Program Manager I; class code: 2441100. The work associated with this position will be performed predominately through a hybrid schedule of onsite and remote work, with the expectation of two days onsite.

This recruitment is open to King County employees and the public and will be used to fill one Term-Limited Temporary position or Special Duty Assignment (SDA). The duration is anticipated to last up to 12 months.
