The American Kidney Fund (AKF) is seeking a full-time Project Manager who will organize, manage, and plan complex multi-department projects.
The Business Operations team helps the organization achieve its strategic objectives, grow, scale, and operate efficiently and effectively. As a member of Business Operations, you will play a crucial role in managing key operational initiatives and critical business priorities through cross-departmental projects. This team exhibits strong self-initiative, creates clarity where there is ambiguity, values compromise and seeks consensus, invests in relationship building, and are eager to solve complex problems to drive the organization forward.
Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager will assist in management of cross-functional projects and initiatives that further AKF's strategic plan. Success is measured by achieving organizational benefits not attainable by managing projects individually and in alignment with AKF's objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Cross-Departmental Project Management
- In collaboration with project sponsors and Senior Project Manager, develop project plans, including project schedules, budgets, team roles and responsibilities and ensure that all tasks and deliverables are assigned, completed on time, and within budget.
- Develop, maintain and track all Corporate Funded Project budgets, working with Finance and team members to ensure up-to-date status and projections monthly and at year-end. Identify, flag, and analyze potential financial and budgetary risks.
- Monitor project progress and identify areas of risk.
- For assigned projects, schedule project meetings and develop agendas to ensure team alignment and progress. Record meeting decisions and share updates to team.
- Proactively work to identify project obstacles and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities.
- Maintain project documents, records, and files. Provide financial summaries, reports, and recommendations as needed.
- Provide comprehensive project process support, such as tracking deliverables and milestones, helps in keeping the project on schedule and within the agreed specifications.
- Lead and project manage small to medium projects professionally so they are set up for good performance and eventual success.
- Employ project management processes, tools and templates to improve the project management function at AKF
- Ability to recognize institutional factors (organizational culture, structure, and governance, established communication channels, stakeholder risk tolerances, etc.) that influence the project and incorporate them into project planning.
- Set and manage expectations and maintain close cross-functional alignment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices
- Strong financial analysis and Excel skills
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Able to work effectively in a team environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Proficient in MS Office and project management software
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines and attention to details.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to adapt to change, learn quickly and to creatively solve new problems.
- Ability to act as a team player.
- Ability to manage concurrent initiatives and work streams from planning to delivery, utilizing a variety of project management tools and methodologies.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Graduate degree preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in a related field or position required.
- CAPM or PMP and/or comparable project management certifications desirable.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
