Freight Flex is a high-growth, $150M freight brokerage managing approximately 7,000 loads per month. We operate in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics environment where precision, accountability, and operational efficiency are critical.
We are seeking a hands‑on Billing Operations Manager to lead our Operational Accounting Department, enforce structure, build measurable KPIs, and elevate performance across an established team.
Please note:
this is an onsite role in our office in Denton, TX four days each week and one day each week working from home.
The Billing Operations Manager reports directly to the President and oversees a team of eight accounting professionals. This position is not involved with the general ledger or financial reporting, but rather is transactional oversight, including customer billing, customer payment application, carrier bill processing, and carrier bill payment.
This role manages a high‑volume of freight brokerage transactions in a fast‑paced environment. The right candidate is a strong executor who brings structure, builds measurable performance standards, implements new technology solutions, and collaborates closely with Operations to improve billing accuracy and financial efficiency. This is not a strategic CFO‑track role, but a hands‑on leadership position focused on execution and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management- Lead, manage, and develop a team of eight accounting professionals
- Establish clear performance expectations and accountability standards
- Build and track KPIs across AR, carrier payables, invoicing, customer payments and carrier payments
- Maintain a structured, process‑driven accounting environment
- Oversee high‑volume carrier payables and customer invoicing
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness across approximately 7,000 loads per month
- Partner with Operations to resolve billing discrepancies
- Drive process improvements to reduce financial leakage and increase efficiency
- Operate within a fully integrated TMS and Triumph Pay environment
- Optimize workflows between accounting and brokerage teams
- Strengthen internal controls for profitability and GAAP‑compliance
- Develop reporting metrics that enhance visibility into financial performance
- Work closely with Operations leadership to improve billing accuracy
- Strengthen communication between accounting and brokerage teams
- Support scalability as company volume continues to grow
- Bachelor’s degree – preferred Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of experience with transportation accounting transactions
- Leadership experience managing an operational accounting staff
- Strong experience with customer billing, carrier payables, and cash management
- Experience using Triumph Pay and TAI or similar TMS platforms
- Background in a high‑volume brokerage environment ($100M+ preferred)
- Experience implementing new technology solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and profitability
- High attention to detail and strong standards for accuracy
- Process‑driven and structured in approach
- Strong communicator with the ability to work cross‑functionally
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced environment
