The Director of the Facilities Business Office provides senior-level leadership, oversight, and accountability for all business, financial, administrative, and customer support functions supporting Facilities & Campus Services (FCS). The position operates under long-range administrative direction and manages an operating budget of ~ 20M multi-fund budget; and a capital budget between $10M to over $100M. Oversees work management systems, data administration, HR coordination, customer service operations, accounts receivable/payable, recharge centers, procurement functions, and institutional financial reporting.
The Director serves as a strategic advisor and sounding board to the Associate Vice Chancellor and acts on behalf of executive leadership when delegated.
The position requires knowledge of accreditation processes, public administration principles, and industry best practices, as well as expertise in budgeting, cost accounting, auditing, and multi-fund financial management. It also requires familiarity with CMMS/IWMS platforms, automated accounting systems, and data analysis tools. Candidates must demonstrate strong understanding of procurement principles, including state and federal purchasing regulations, competitive bidding procedures, contract administration, and vendor management.
The role calls for the ability to independently develop programs, policies, and long‑range plans, along with skill in interpreting regulations, resolving conflicts, negotiating agreements, and managing procurement actions. Success in this position further depends on strong communication, relationship building, and customer service abilities. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in UAA’s Core Competencies by effectively communicating across diverse stakeholder groups, applying critical and creative thinking to complex operational challenges, demonstrating intercultural fluency when serving Alaska’s diverse populations, and upholding personal, professional, and community responsibility in all aspects of Facilities administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting or related field required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum 10 years progressively responsible experience or equivalent combination.
- An unrestricted Alaska driver’s license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.
This position is located on the UAA Main campus in Anchorage, and flexible on‑site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full‑time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 82, based on education and experience.
