Position: Strategic Chief Accountant | Hybrid Role, Impact

Job Description

As a key role in the Council's extended Management Team, the post holder will support the Chief Finance Officer who is also the Section 95 Officer in ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the Council's financial affairs. The post holder will work collaboratively with other Team Leaders, Senior Managers, and the Strategic Director to support overall strategic and operational leadership, ensuring that the services provided are fit for purpose.

Leadership, vision, direction and effective management of the Accountancy functions will be expected, fostering a culture of high quality customer service, corporate working, continuous improvement and innovation. Process improvements and service re‑structuring will be identified and implemented to meet the current and future needs of the Council. The role requires gaining and maintaining credibility and trust of colleagues and the ability to challenge appropriately.
