Description
OverviewSenior Project Manager:
Engineering Services based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The role manages and delivers complex, high-value projects related to facilities management, building maintenance, construction, engineering and infrastructure within the live operational environment of the University of the Witwatersrand campuses, primarily in Parktown and Braamfontein, with activity at extended learning, teaching and research sites.
- Full lifecycle project management in line with the National Treasury’s Infrastructure Procurement and Delivery Management (IPDM) guidelines (2016).
- Lead facilitation, coordination, participation and consolidation of project activities.
- Infrastructure planning conceptualization.
- Strategic resourcing and delivery management including:
- Prefeasibility, preparation and briefing
- Feasibility, concept and viability
- Design development
- Design documentation and procurement
- Works
- Handover
- Post-completion review
- Prepare and coordinate project cost estimates with project stakeholders.
- Manage ongoing project finances and reporting, including planned vs. actual expenditure and monthly financial reviews with the department’s finance team.
- Lead and coordinate project teams (internal staff and external consultants) to ensure effective and efficient project execution.
- Provide support to the S&O Division’s operations team as required.
- Collaborate with supporting functions and teams on projects.
- Honours Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- Certifications, qualifications or professional registrations in Project Management are advantageous.
- Certifications, qualifications or professional registrations in Procurement and Supply Chain Management are advantageous.
- Minimum twelve (12) years’ experience in engineering and the built environment, including at least five (5) years in a dedicated client-side project management role in facilities management, construction/engineering or building maintenance; experience with high-value, technically complex engineering projects.
- Knowledge of facilities management, building maintenance, construction and/or engineering.
- Excellent planning, coordination, organizational and communication skills.
- Understanding of corporate governance, reporting and procurement processes.
- Understanding of OHSA;
National Building Regulations; SANS Standards; municipal by-laws and related legislation. - Valid driver’s license and own transport.
