Overview
Zurich E&S is currently looking for an Underwriting Manager for our E&S Property team. This E&S Property Manager position will be responsible for developing, coaching, and managing a high-performing regional team of Property underwriting staff. Additional responsibilities include managing regional performance (new business production, policy count retention, rate/tiering execution, and portfolio management actions relative to plan); managing regional wholesale broker relationships;
managing underwriter referrals; and maintaining a small production portfolio to stay attuned with regional market changes and desk-level challenges.
The E&S Property Manager will be expected to travel as necessary to support the needs of the team and cultivate key broker relationships within the specified regions (approximately 25%). The role is critical for driving a diversified, dynamic and engaging team culture. This position requires strong technical acumen in underwriting property risks in the E&S segment, experience in overseeing and developing underwriting talent, the ability to manage complex processes, strong wholesale producer engagement and sales skills, and a demonstrated ability in profitable portfolio management.
This position will be based out of our Atlanta or Chicago office, with the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents.
This role will be filled at either an AVP Underwriting Manager or VP Senior Underwriting Manager level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skillset relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

AVP Level Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 7+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing areas, OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent with 14+ years in Claims or Under Support areas, OR
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate’s degree and 5+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing area; AND
- 2+ years of management experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years in Underwriting, Market Facing, Broker, Carrier, or Risk Management in Commercial Insurance; OR
- Bachelor’s Degree with 20+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support in Commercial Insurance; AND
- Experience in E&S Property; AND
- 2+ years of people management experience.

The combined salary range for this position is $ - $, with the AVP range at $ - $ (40% incentive) and VP range at $ - $ (50% incentive).
