Overview
Under general direction, this position is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and success of the golf facility, including golf operations, maintenance coordination, customer service, financial performance, marketing, and community engagement. The role involves performing complex technical and administrative work related to planning, organizing, and overseeing the operations and maintenance of the municipal golf course, while ensuring compliance with applicable City policies, procedures, and regulations for golf course maintenance and operations.
This is an in-person position and is not eligible for regular remote work.
Minimum Education: Bachelor s degree in business management, marketing, turf management, or other related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Job Requirements: Valid Colorado Driver s License, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Ability to pass a background and MVR check with results that are acceptable to the City of Rifle.
Work Experience in Positions Similar or Related to This Job: Four years of experience in golf course management and a minimum of two years of management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Preferred PGA or CMAA membership, or equivalent professional certifications.
Essential Responsibilities- Oversee all golf operation functions for the Rifle Creek Golf Course, ensuring compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations. Ensures the highest standards of golf services and programs, golf course and practices areas, and other facility services.
- Monitors the performance of all daily operations, functions and services; assuring high standards and member/customer satisfaction. Develop and recommend standard operating procedures, rules and regulations.
- Oversee the use and maintenance of golf course and driving range facilities; participates in planning for and coordinating capital improvements to facilities.
- Evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of operations; establishes short and long-term priorities to meet division goals; enforces all policies and safety regulations for the protection of staff, club members, and the public.
- Supervises course technical and clerical personnel. Supervisory duties include scheduling, instructing, assigning, reviewing, and planning work of others while maintaining high standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, assisting in the hiring process, and recommending and delivering disciplinary action in coordination with Human Resources.
- Documents performance highlights and provides regular coaching and accurate feedback to employees; establishes performance standards and controls.
- Motivates and influences people to facilitate organizational effectiveness and collaborative relationships to enable the implementation of the City s mission, vision and goals.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and hospitality for members, guests, and public golfers.
- Maintains inventory control and oversees the equipment maintenance programs and point-of-sale computer systems.
- Coordinates the golf course s marketing and promotional programs to recruit members/patrons.
- Compiles data for and prepares a variety of required reports, records and correspondence.
- Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding golf course services and activities.
- Assists in the development and management of annual operating and capital budgets.
- Monitor revenue streams including memberships, green fees, cart rentals, tournaments, and merchandise sales.
- Recommend and implement pricing strategies to maximize utilization and profitability.
- Oversee and collaborate with the Golf Course Maintenance Manager to ensure the course is maintained to the highest standards of playability and appearance.
- Completes annually required training for the city and department.
- Proficient in ability to multi-task and successfully manage/complete workload amid regular interruptions.
- Carries out duties with professionalism and ability to act professionally with employees and the public.
- Executes duties offering excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Maintains regular and consistent attendance according to established department schedule.
