Remote work arrangement:
This position is eligible for a remote work arrangement within California and requires travel to various UC campuses as needed. The selected candidate must reside in California or be willing to relocate.
- 30% LEADERSHIP AND STRATEGIC PLANNING:
Serve as the organization expert for campus climate and belonging. Advise executive leaders on campus climate policy issues. Oversee systemwide campus climate coordination, collaboration and data gathering. Identify and promote best/promising practices related to campus climate across the 10 UC campuses. Assess and enhance cultural competencies of clinical interventions, trainings, and services. Develop and maintain relationships with campus climate and equity/inclusion stakeholders.
Identify opportunities for conference presentations, publications, and recognition for the University. - 25% POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
Plan, develop, and implement new programs and organizational changes to support new policies. Determine systemwide needs and the technical, operational, and social vision for staff development, training, and continuing education. Coordinate fundraising strategies as appropriate to support staff development. Analyze feedback on professional development activities for senior leaders. - 20% STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS AND RELATIONS:
Serve as the primary liaison between Graduate, Undergraduate and Equity Affairs, UC campuses, and other OP departments. Develop and communicate campus climate policies and practices. Present to diverse audiences, handle campus climate-related press inquiries with External Relations and Communications, and prepare talking points for legislative hearings and Regents discussions. Prepare legislative and regental reports and coordinate data publication. - 20% MANAGEMENT:
Direct and supervise at least two professional staff, plus intern staff, responsible for content development for websites/publications, providing technical assistance to campuses, policy analysis, researching best practices, and staffing committees. Establish team goals and manage resources and accountability. Develop short- and long-term strategic plans. - 5% OTHER DUTIES:
Attend relevant classes, conferences and events, represent the university as appropriate, and uphold the Principles of Community. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience
- Advanced knowledge in campus climate and equity and inclusion at the campus-wide level and management of sensitive information and data
- Ability to coordinate across organizational lines (UC campuses and external entities) to develop resources and data for recommendations
- Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations and sensitivity to cultural differences
- Judgment and decision-making, problem solving, and performance measurement skills
- Advanced project management skills and a track record in policy development and implementation
- Proactive, creative, and innovative problem-solving abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
- Advanced training in quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly to senior management and diverse audiences
- Knowledge of risk assessment principles and procedures
- Experience managing social media, web applications, and various electronic media formats
- Proficiency in University-specific software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe, Cascade
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Travel Requirements: 35% Frequent travel to campuses and other locations in California expected.
