Job Title: Project Manager (Clean Rivers and Seas Task Force)
Location: This is a hybrid role operating within either the West area of our region (for these reasons, we can only accept applications from people who hold a full, clean driving licence).
Contract Type: Full-time, 37 hours, Monday – Friday
Salary: up to £55k, depending on experience and qualifications
Storm overflows are a major environmental and customer service challenge. The Clean Rivers and Seas Task Force is leading the charge to reduce spills and the reliance on overflows, enhancing the environment for our communities. We are delivering a £45 million pathfinder programme that will rapidly expand to £1.5 billion over the next ten years. The programme has been very successful; we now need to grow the team to deliver sustainable, innovative interventions that further reduce the use of storm overflows.
JobOverview
Our Task Force Project Managers play an integral role in helping the team achieve its vision, improving the environment through a dramatic reduction in spills and the need for storm overflows. You will provide project‑management assistance and coordination to the Catchment Risk Management Programme, ensuring that projects conform to governance processes and are delivered on time and to appropriate standards. You will promote good practice in project planning and control, in collaboration with customers, colleagues within the Catchment Risk Management Team, Procurement, relevant governing bodies, and others.

- You will have had exposure to forecasting, finance and building programmes.
- You are an expert in juggling competing projects and plans.
- High level of planning and scheduling skills, ensuring the complex activities of interrelated project teams are controlled, coordinated and linked into the overall programme.
- The ability to work to tight time pressures and to present clearly articulated reports and presentations is a key component of this role.
- Effective communication skills at all levels; ability to work as part of a team. Strong influencing and persuasion skills are required, e.g. to promote change and ensure governance.
- Understanding of industry‑wide best practice relating to project management.
- Experience dealing with contractors/suppliers.
This role is full time Monday to Friday with a 60/40 split between on‑site/field locations and working from home. We offer a salary of up to £55,000 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus the following benefits:
