Manager of Payments Strategy

State Department Federal Credit Union is seeking a Manager of Payments Strategy to lead the development of long-term product strategies across the credit, debit, prepaid, and ATM portfolios. This role focuses on enhancing member experience, maintaining competitive positioning, driving profitability, and shaping product design, promotions, and service offerings to deliver best‑in‑class payment solutions for SDFCU members and staff.

The Manager of Payments Strategy will monitor, report on, and plan process improvements or redesign initiatives, making data‑driven recommendations as needed. This position is responsible for collecting and analyzing portfolio data to support strategic decisions, maintaining formal process documentation, and collaborating across project teams and enterprise initiatives to ensure department interests are represented in organizational changes.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop payment strategies to increase penetration, activation, and utilization of card service products.
  • Report key performance metrics to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Analyze Rewards program trends and recommend opportunities to improve appeal, utilization and profitability.
  • Propose testing strategies to maximize financial return on card marketing campaigns.
  • Recommend new features and product enhancements.
  • Work closely with Payments leadership to analyze marketplace trends, build partnerships with industry experts and create excitement for the SDFCU brand.
  • Help establish and monitor progress dashboards to manage portfolio effectiveness.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to foster ongoing support of cards.
  • Day‑to‑day vendor oversight of multiple processes and procedures.
  • Define, establish and manage process controls; identify process improvement opportunities and implement them through collaboration with other SDFCU departments, making final recommendations for approval on changes.
  • Collect, analyze and measure process data to initiate sustainable business practices and procedures, and report to senior leadership and executives; review data for trends and gaps that may require additional review.
Qualifications
  • Ability to handle several projects at one time while performing other job duties.
  • Budgetary responsibility for a single small‑sized department or function and/or decisions that have an impact on current organization goals and objectives, affecting department/division or credit union.
  • Create, analyze and maintain daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly statistical reporting for department/division and coordinate daily work activities to ensure credit union goals are met.
  • Coordinate implementation, analyze and monitor projects/systems to determine recommendations for new programs, improvements or corrections, and present supporting documentation.
  • Handle complex problems requiring data analysis, weighing outcomes of delivery/decision; these problems demand functional and technical knowledge, multitasking skills, and may have significant impact on members, departments, divisions, or the credit union.
  • Maintain a high degree of knowledge of all SDFCU products with emphasis on payment products.
  • Read and interpret Procedures Manual, websites, Operation Bulletins, reports, and vendor manuals/correspondence.
  • Establish and/or cultivate professional relationships with third‑party vendors to coordinate department functionality and project implementation.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Be able to multitask while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
