The Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada (SOGC) is the national voice for women’s health in Canada with a mission to lead the advancement of women’s health through excellence and collaborative professional practice.

The SOGC has over 4,000 members, comprised of: obstetricians; gynaecologists; family physicians; nurses; midwives and allied health professionals working in the field of sexual and reproductive health.

Since 1944, the SOGC continues to be a leading national and international authority on sexual and reproductive health and on evidence-based training and education. The SOGC leads the development of 12–17 clinical practice guidelines per year and hosts three regional continuing medical education meetings, and an Annual Clinical and Scientific Conference. The SOGC also coordinates and hosts in-person and virtual academic programs for participants at all stages of their career: medical students, residents and practicing health professionals.


POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO), the Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the CSO’s office and ensuring that business processes run smoothly and efficiently.

This role will manage key operational activities, including overseeing the production of materials for SOGC members, the public, and external partners, while ensuring adherence to quality control standards and deadlines.

Additionally, the Operations Manager will lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, working closely with other departments to optimize performance, enhance productivity, and contribute to the achievement of SOGC’s organizational goals.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Management:

  • Oversee and streamline daily operations within the CSO's office to ensure efficient workflows and processes.
  • Manage the creation and distribution of content, publications, and materials intended for SOGC members, the public and partners, ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate operational processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective solutions.

Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of professionals, providing guidance, support and performance management.
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, ensuring alignment with organizational values and goals.
  • Coordinate with the CSO and senior leadership to ensure that staff resources are allocated effectively, and projects are delivered on time.
  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, and retention of staff within the CSO function.

Project Management:

  • Lead and oversee special projects as assigned by the CSO, ensuring they are executed effectively, on time, and within budget.
  • Manage budgets and resources for the CSO's office, ensuring cost-effective utilization of resources.

Quality Control and Assurance:

  • Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all materials meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular reviews of production materials and processes to uphold consistency and quality in the work produced by the CSO's office.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that operational activities align with broader organizational strategies and activities.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.


QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE and KEY SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., Six Sigma, PMP) is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in operations management, preferably in a healthcare, non-profit, or scientific organization.
