Overview

Working 36.5 hours per week. The role is largely remote/home-based; however, the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.

About

The Role

You will have a key role in commissioning, contract management, policy and planning activity across Birmingham with responsibility for specific agendas including commissioning services through the Birmingham Children’s Trust, The Birmingham Education Partnership, the NHS and the local Integrated Care Board (ICB) among others. You will:

  • Provide high-level support in the delivery of effective, high quality and evidence-based services across early years commissioning (Health Visiting, School Nursing, Children Centres).
  • Work collaboratively with Public Health colleagues and joint commissioning across health, short breaks, holiday activities and other programmes benefiting vulnerable children and families, at a reasonable cost, accessible and appropriate to service users, through the application of commissioning techniques.
  • Make effective contributions to the development of relationships with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and organisations to deliver services and support that result in improved outcomes for children, young people and their families.
  • Manage resources and operate within financial priorities to deliver value for money for the Council and its partners while ensuring the best possible services and outcomes for children, young people and families.

About You

With a degree-level qualification in a relevant subject, you’ll be an experienced commissioner with a track record of commissioning across strategic priorities. You will be able to analyse and interpret complex data from a variety of sources to inform commissioning priorities and shape key policy and strategies. You’ll support and facilitate partnerships with a wide range of colleagues, stakeholders, and external organisations to understand and develop markets to reflect evolving need.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and inform commissioning priorities.
  • Experience in partnership development with a range of stakeholders and external organisations.
