Position Summary
Business Service Officers (BSO) shape the future of service by modernizing the client experience through an elevated standard of care. The BSO reports directly to the Market Business Service Officer (MBSO) and supervises, manages Support Professionals, and executes all business and service functions within assigned branches.
Duties & Responsibilities- Lead the branch in executing the organization’s strategic priorities through coaching and influencing behavioral change.
- Mentor and supervise a team of Support and Service Professionals.
- Promote cross‑training, learning, development, and recognition of team members.
- Facilitate interviewing, selection and onboarding of new hires, including Financial Advisors and their Support Professionals.
- Partner with MBSO and Human Resources on people management, performance reviews, performance management and conflict resolution.
- Maintain strong relationships with key partners within the branch, market, region, and home office.
- Conduct Support Professional one‑on‑one meetings for coaching opportunities, career goals, job‑related activities, and team building.
- Manage and oversee Coverage for Financial Advisors in the branch.
- Identify Support Professional recognition opportunities through best practice sharing.
- Promote a branch culture consistent with the firm’s core values, including diversity and inclusion.
- Manage travel and entertainment expenses for Advisors and other firm programs.
- Facilitate and manage resolution of client inquiries/requests.
- Participate in national calls and share best practices.
- Identify and implement process improvements to maximize productivity and drive efficiencies.
- Administer other duties as delegated by the Market Business Service Officer.
- Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent education.
- Previous industry experience.
- Active Series 7 (GS), Series 9 and Series 10 (SU), Series 66 (AG/RA) or Series 63 (AG) and Series 65 (RA) required.
- Other licenses as required for the role or by management.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and resolve complex needs and escalate as necessary.
- Ability to identify issues and trends to anticipate change and provide comprehensive solutions.
- Evidence of strong leadership and talent development capabilities.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Exceptional conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage relationships, motivate and lead groups at various levels throughout the market.
- Knowledge of the firm’s Risk & Compliance policies.
- Ability to think strategically.
