Role Purpose

To grow the Crisis and Security Consulting (CSC) service line by driving aggressive growth strategies across the area of responsibility. This will be achieved by developing clients, originating sales leads, delivering and or having oversight of operational and consulting projects. They will also have direct line management of the operations and consulting teams operating from the Johannesburg office.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To take responsibility for and drive growth within the Crisis and Security Consulting (CSC) service line across the South Africa area of responsibility which will include Mozambique, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Angola and others. This will require them to develop and deliver a business development strategy that enables ambitious growth across all areas of the CSC business.
  • Undertake fee earning consultancy, including but not limited to Corporate Risk and Resilience Consulting, Crisis and Emergency Response Management, Business Continuity Planning and Governance Strategy.
  • Hold project budget accountability for the CSC service line in support of the CSC EMEA P&L.
  • Develop and nurture client relationships across the CSC and wider service lines, not only on security risk and resilience related expertise, but as a trusted advisor for Control Risks in order to develop client relationship across the full breadth of capabilities.
  • Ensure requests from clients and prospects are dealt with in a timely and effective manner, linking in with other service lines and CSC colleagues as appropriate.
  • Creating proposals using project profitability, utilization and pricing tools to determine pricing levels prior to sign-off approval by CSC Principal or Partner.
  • Provide accurate information on pipeline activity, engaging with hub leads to ensure integrated reporting across the Africa business.
  • Provide management and Operational line management responsibility for CSC team members in the South Africa office.
  • Coordination and support to regional operations and consulting tasks as necessary.
  • Maintain overall quality of operational and written deliverables for the practice area.
  • A thought leader who can adopt innovative approaches to develop current and new solutions, utilizing technology and international best practice standards as appropriate.

Requirements

Knowledge and Experience

  • This is a senior appointment that requires significant and recent relevant commercial risk consulting and operational security risk management understanding and experience gained in a top tier consulting firm.
  • You will be recognized as an expert in your field with a proven ability of operating successfully at a senior level and growing a consulting and security operations business successfully driving teams to reach the strategic and operational goals.
  • Demonstrable depth and breadth of understanding of risk management, business resilience, and the dynamics of a consultancy practice.
  • Proven and demonstrable track record of successful risk and resilience consultancy projects, coupled with an understanding of the requirements for delivering services in a complex environment.
  • Commercially astute when planning and pricing project in terms of time, resource and outcomes.
  • Relevant role of having successfully built effective and strong client relationships, being the preferred partner of choice.
  • Knowledgeable in ISO 22301, 22320, 31000, 18788 and other security risk and crisis management methodology.

Qualifications and Specialist Skills:

  • Educated to at least Bachelors’ degree level in Risk Management, Emergency Management Business Administration, or related field.
  • Project management skills within a commercial/ consulting environment.
  • Strong commercial focus (financial management, legal and contractual skills) and leadership.
  • Good client (both internal & external) management and consulting skills.
  • Effective decision making & judgement.
  • People leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and drive the performance of a team of security and risk professionals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – building trust & rapport.
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral (informal and presentation to board level).
