Regional Aviation Manager – Northeast Region
Join Air Methods as a Regional Aviation Manager and play a key leadership role in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient flight operations across our Northeast region. This position oversees aviation personnel and activities with a strong focus on safety, training, and operational readiness.
As a member of Air Methods’ leadership team, you’ll coordinate with regional maintenance, clinical, and safety leaders to drive excellence in air medical operations. The ideal candidate brings extensive aviation management experience, proven leadership, and a deep commitment to safety and regulatory compliance under Part 135 operations.
This is a remote/home-based position with regular regional travel to support operational needs.
Responsible for supporting the organization, direction and administration tasks assigned within a regional area in relationship to overseeing aviation activities and personnel. Specific areas of focus are safety and training. Responsible for daily aviation duties. May be required to work with other field management including regional leadership, maintenance, and clinical to ensure a coordinated and efficient response to service requests.
Key Highlights- Lead aviation operations, safety, and training initiatives for bases across the Northeast US.
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, Operations Specifications, and the Air Methods General Operations Manual.
- Supervise and mentor aviation staff, oversee pilot training coordination, and promote adherence to Safety Management Systems.
- Partner with regional leaders on performance, safety investigations, and operational improvements.
- Bachelor’s degree and 8–10 years of related aviation or air medical experience (or equivalent combination).
- Minimum 2,500 flight hours and 2 years of Part 135 operational experience.
- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Airplane or Rotorcraft) and FAA Second Class Medical.
- Salary range: $98,000–$125,000 (based on experience)

- Ensure all operations within region are compliant with regulations and the General Operations Manual.
- Participate as a member of Air Methods’ management team to promote a successful operation.
- Research and report to Director of Operations on FRx budget/actual variances.
- Ensure completion of aviation management portions of Base Startup, Closure and Movement Manual.
- Ensure that revisions for the Operations Manual and Operations Specifications are distributed and revised as required and the appropriate Publications Verification Form(s) are completed and submitted to the certificate holder.
- Provide tactical management of the integration of aircraft, assuring availability and trained pilots in support of operational requirements.
- Delegate aviation field logistical support to Area Manager.
- Attend or delegate attendance to fleet status teleconferences (KPI Dashboard).
- Coordinate pilot training in conjunction with the Pilot Training team for the area.
- Coordinate with Regional Safety Director on safety related issues while providing technical and professional assistance to eliminate or control unsafe behaviors in coordination with Area Manager.
- Assist in the investigation of aviation mishaps and in performing a root cause analysis upon request.
- Submit all required reporting regarding flight personnel to the Regional Aviation Director.
- Monitor the behaviors and performance of aviation personnel to assure they comply with Air Methods’ policies and procedures.
- Ensure that the CF system is being used by pilots.
- Responsible to ensure audit deficiencies and compliance issues found in their area of responsibility are corrected.
- Coordinate with Regional Clinical Managers to schedule and conduct medical crew member and communication specialist initial and recurrent training. Monitor crew member Computer Training System (CTS) compliance. Conduct Air Medical Resource Management training.
- Ensure in-service training for aviation and medical personnel occurs prior to placing a back-up aircraft back in service and training records are accurate.
