Salary: National (Edinburgh and Leeds) £59,100 to £69,000 and London £64,900 to £76,000 (based on skills and experience).

About the FCA and the teamWe regulate financial services firms in the UK, keeping markets fair, thriving and effective. SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews rules (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition (competition). The redress and CMC policy team owns the consumer redress policy framework, including rules on complaints handling, compensation and claims management and provides specialist advice across the FCA.
Roleresponsibilities
- Support the manager in overseeing team activities, allocating tasks and tracking progress to ensure high quality delivery and a well‑supported workforce.
- Coach and mentor 2–3 Associates to improve team capability and long‑term performance.
- Shape team and departmental strategy while managing key stakeholder relationships to align decisions.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and act as escalation point for complex issues to enhance performance.
- Lead development of impactful policy proposals, papers and consultation materials.
- Deliver accurate, timely policy advice to supervisors, firms, consumers and industry bodies to support sound decisions and a resilient financial ecosystem.
- Prior policy experience dealing with complex consumer protection policy issues in regulated industries.
- Experience drafting concise, precise policy documents for a range of audiences.
- Experience managing stakeholder relationships, distilling complex issues into succinct messages and speaking confidently to internal and external stakeholders.
- Evidence of analysing large amounts of complex information, identifying key themes, drawing conclusions and developing and implementing strategies.
- Strong management capability (project management) for planning, prioritising and allocating work within the team.
- Ability to work independently, use sound judgement and escalat appropriate issues.
- A curious, inquisitive mindset and ambition to deliver in the public interest.
