Senior Account Manager – Commercial Lines (Transportation) – Remote Option
Fully Remote for applicants in Eastern, Central, and Mountain Time Zones. Working within Central Time Zone office hours. Supporting:
Elgin, IL. Book Focus:
Transportation (Middle Market). Active property & casualty license required.
Remote work policy:
Individuals living within 50 miles of a branch may need to work onsite in a hybrid capacity as required; a dedicated, distraction‑free workspace is needed. Remote work does not substitute for personal responsibilities such as childcare.
Manage an rows assigned book of business, ensuring account retention and supporting new business. Coordinate day‑to‑day administrative and customer service activities, resolve complex issues, and ensure no errors or omissions. Serve as a subject matter expert for the account management team.
KeyαιρεResponsibilities- Maintain technical competence and industry expertise.
- Direct daily activities and workflow of the account management team.
- Handle customer service requests, policy administration, billing, claims, and coverage analysis.
- Manage policy expirations and renewals.
- Conduct client research, prepare submissions, negotiate coverages, and present proposals.
- Monitor delinquent accounts and collect outstanding balances.
- Maintain agency management systems and carrier/vendor platforms, ensuring data accuracy.
- Monitor and maintain activity/suspense to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain frequent, transparent communication with the account team regarding workload status and any issues.
- Deliver excellent service, proactively anticipate needs, and respond quickly to service requests.
- Stay updated on company policies and procedures to ensure policy compliance.
- Seek and adopt best practices for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate integrity and leadership, championing IOA values.
- 7+ years of account management experience, or 10+ years in the insurance industry.
- Thorough knowledge of insurance brokerage and client needs.
- Required active property & casualty licensing; professional designation (CIS, TRIP or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Exceptional customer service, communication, multitasking, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
