Client Relationship Manager
General Manager – Pay Pal Branded Credit Products
As the General Manager, you will lead and manage all aspects of the client relationship and portfolio performance for Pay Pal co‑brand cards as well as Pay Pal Credit. Your primary responsibilities will include growing the assigned portfolio to increase assets/accounts within defined risk parameters, executing growth initiatives profitably, introducing additional products, leading Synchrony’s cross‑functional team, managing assigned resources, and enhancing the client relationship to retain and grow the business.

We offer flexibility, allowing you to work from home near one of our hubs or in one of our offices. You will be expected to attend in‑person engagements such as business meetings, training, and culture events as required and will need to visit a Synchrony Hybrid Hub location on a regular basis.
Essential Responsibilities- Make complex judgments based on advanced analytical thought.
- Develop and manage strategic action plans to achieve performance targets within defined risk parameters.
- Lead the cross‑functional client team to support the client and achieve key deliverables.
- Understand portfolio dynamics to develop, support and implement key business strategies.
- Deliver on key client metrics.
- Own and drive overall portfolio financial performance and key growth metrics.
- Provide leadership to ensure adherence to all external and internal compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Assess client teams’ performance against goals and take proactive action as needed.
- Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with the client and all key stakeholders.
- Interface with functional peers to establish strategies supporting the client and sales agendas.
- Lead the development process for all performance targets.
- Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or 15 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum 10 years of credit card portfolio management experience at a senior level with a proven track record of delivering results.
- Deep and broad knowledge of multiple business models, financial strategies, and geographies.
- Minimum 8 years of client relationship building and client management experience.
- Proven knowledge of external regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Minimum 7 years of experience influencing senior corporate decision‑makers.
- Minimum 7 years of negotiation and contract management experience.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
- Flexibility to travel for business as required.
- Skilled communicator who influences and negotiates with great latitude on outcomes.
- In‑depth knowledge of how the function integrates within the business and of direct competitors.
- Strong overall knowledge of the card business including risk, collections, operations, marketing and finance.
- MBA.
- Experience in eCommerce and payment industry.
- Proven ability to drive business growth and new product development.
- Strategic thinker with excellent commercial judgment and business sense.
- Superior client relationship and negotiation skills.
- Self‑starter, highly motivated, and able to work independently while energizing teams.
Grade/Level: 17
The salary range for this position is 260,000 – 430,000 USD annually. The position is also eligible for an annual incentive plan target of 40% of salary and an annual equity target of 40% of salary. Actual compensation will be based on work experience, skill level, and knowledge. Salaries are adjusted according to market in California, NY Metro, and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements- You must be 18 years or older.
- You must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation, and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process.
- You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
