Are you passionate about getting things done to make a difference to the safeguarding and wellbeing of citizens. The Birmingham Safeguarding Adults Board (BSAB) are looking for a driven and experienced individual who an organised, self-motivated, self learning and dependable team player to join the Safeguarding Adults Team.
The BSAB works in partnership to safeguard and promote the well-being of Adults with Care and Support who are experiencing, or are at risk of abuse or neglect in Birmingham. The BSAB Support team works on behalf of partners to direct and co-ordinate the work of the Board and to support the work of the various Subgroups of the Board. Birmingham City Council hosts the Business Support Team on behalf of the BSAB and is now recruiting to the position of Safeguarding Adults Officer.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small team to support the delivery of the BSAB strategic plan and statutory duties of the BSAB. The Safeguarding Adults Officer will assist the Board Business Manager to support the Birmingham Safeguarding Adults Board to meet its statutory duties and strategic business plan outcomes by undertaking specific work streams and developmental work involving agencies across Birmingham, Regionally and Nationally.
The role of the Safeguarding Adults Officer is to develop and co-ordinate multi-agency initiatives that will meet the Board’s strategic objectives and support safeguarding adult arrangements across Birmingham.
You will be involved in the development of the Board’s Strategic Plan, the Annual Report and publicity materials, and therefore must have the ability to produce high quality reports and documents. You will have a sound understanding of safeguarding adults and demonstrate effective interpersonal and influencing skills.
Key areas of skills and experience:
- Knowledge of partnership working and business planning processes, and the roles and responsibilities of working within a multi-agency safeguarding framework
- Relevant and up to date knowledge of adult safeguarding including scope of safeguarding boards, safeguarding adult review requirements and processes.
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of legislation, policies and procedures involved in safeguarding adults with care and support needs as well as safeguarding in a wider sense.
- Ability to prioritise a heavy diverse workload and competing demands.
- Ability to lead, coordinate and process multidisciplinary activity and projects.
- Ability to understand, research, analyse, interpret complex, sensitive, distressing and contentious information and to communicate it objectively and clearly.
- Competent in leading the organisation of events e.g. partnership events, frontline worker sessions and conferences etc.
- Confident and competent in use of IT. Effective IT skills using Microsoft office standard packages, including outlook, Excel, Word, Power point, MS Teams, Microsoft Forms and any other relevant or suitable programmes where necessary, Twitter, Eventbrite and back office website updates.
Flexibility with regards to working hours and location is essential. This is a hybrid role with the flexibility to work from home as business needs dictate. You will also be required to work from any of the Council Administration Buildings or other venues in Birmingham, depending on the needs of the service and team.
