Director of Construction (Solar / Renewables)

Location & Travel: Remote position based anywhere in the U.S.; up to 50% travel to project sites. Eligible for vehicle allowance and company credit card for business travel.

• Implement division direction, coordination, and evaluation.
• Interview, train, assign, and supervise employees; appraise performance and address complaints.
• Lead safety policy compliance and collaborate with Safety Director on jobsite safety.
• Assist Division VP in developing and executing the strategic business plan.
• Ensure overall profitability and client satisfaction goals.
• Hire, train, and retain employees within the department.
• Build strong relationships with key vendors, owners, and clients.
• Resolve conflicts such as subcontractor performance, material delays, contract disputes.
• Maintain communication with staff, monitor job progress, schedules, and subcontractor performance.
• Supervise Project Managers and Field Superintendents, providing performance feedback and annual appraisals.
• Encourage and implement new policies and procedures from team ideas.
• Participate in divisional management team, staff meetings, and overall division success.
• Attend trade shows and conferences on management and construction topics.
• Visit job sites as needed; perform other duties requested by the Vice President of Construction.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience (10+ years in construction).
• Experience in solar or EPC industry with knowledge of construction techniques, estimating, and management.
• Commitment to health and safety, supporting Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, contracts, and regulations.
• Strong written communication—reports, business correspondence, project documentation.
• Effective presentation and information response skills for varied audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Primavera, Viewpoint, and construction software.

Compensation: $190,000-$235,000 per year base salary, competitive pay, performance-based bonus plan.
