As Director of Younger Adults Safeguarding & Provider Services at Birmingham City Council you’ll be a senior leader reporting directly to the Executive Director of Adult Social Care & Health. This is a pivotal role within the Executive Directorate Management Team (EDMT) where you will shape and deliver services that safeguard and empower younger adults across the city.

You will oversee a portfolio that includes safeguarding, mental health, learning disability and autism services, transitions, internally provided services and CQC assurance. You will lead one of the largest and most complex service areas in local government ensuring operational excellence and transformational outcomes for Birmingham’s citizens.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership
:
Translate the Council’s vision into operational plans driving transformation and innovation across adult social care. - Safeguarding Priority
:
Act as the strategic lead for safeguarding, embedding best practice and ensuring compliance with statutory frameworks. - Operational Excellence
:
Deliver high‑quality services that promote independence, wellbeing and choice while achieving efficiency and value for money. - Partnerships & Collaboration
:
Build strong networks with politicians, partners, communities and national bodies to co‑produce services and tackle complex challenges. - Culture & People
:
Empower staff through collaboration, accountability and kindness, fostering a culture where employees thrive and deliver their best. - Performance & Assurance
:
Ensure readiness for CQC inspection, maintain robust performance‑management systems and report progress to political and corporate bodies. - Financial Stewardship
:
Manage significant budgets responsibly, identify efficiency opportunities and ensure sustainable transformation.
We are looking for an authentic visionary leader with proven senior experience in adult social care or a related field. You will bring a deep understanding of safeguarding and statutory frameworks alongside strategic thinking to drive innovation and transformation laborative and resilient, you will work with politicians, partners and communities to co‑produce outcomes while confidently managing large budgets and teams. Above all you will champion equality, diversity and inclusion, creating services and workplaces where people thrive and citizens receive the very best support.
